Malusky Kennels have been involved with sled dogs and Sled Dog Racing since 1995. We began with one Alaskan Malamute, and grew to support the whole families interest in the sport. Currently we have 9 Siberian Huskies and 12 Alaskan Huskies.

Donal competes in the 6 and 8 Dog Classes at races around Australia.
Anne also competes in 6 and 8 Dog Classes.
Jaime competes in the 2 Dog Class and may also enter the Veterans Class with more mature dogs.

Norway January/February 2009 |
Donal was the first Aussie to compete in a sled dog race in Norway. He entered the Gausdal Maraton on the 10th and 11th January. During the 2 week training period before the Gausdal, a couple of dogs were sore, (not to mention a little frostbite on Donal's toes), so it was decided to drop back to the half marathon event over 110km and he was lucky enough to still run an 8 dog team. The course was gruelling, and Donal achieved 5th position in just under 9 hours.
Donal entered his second event, the Trom's Quest, on the 23rd and 24th January. Asluk took him out to train his 8 dog puppy team, who had not yet competed in any races. Donal was entered in the Touring Class and came 2nd over a 56km course which he completed in 3 hours 36 minutes. He loved this event.
Donal and I were volunteers for a week at the Femundløpet in February, a qualifying event for the Iditarod. A magnificent experience, albeit little to no sleep for 5 days as we were kept very busy, temperatures down to -35ºC and where we met many new friends from many countries.
Theses events were a great challenge for Donal and a new experience for us both. Now it is back home to our own dogs. Happy trails all.
